Birthday Contest

Last weekend was Chris' birthday weekend!

So we decided to go to the mill for a change! Hahahahahaha!

Nah, we're too predictable! We went to the mill and had a great time, just doing random things on our own. We were both very excited to try the telehandler we hired.

We've made a short video of the weekends' shenanigans and it includes a task / contest for whoever watches it. We have a little prize that can be posted to the person with the best observation skills or just too much time of their hands! Watch the video for further instructions.

P. S. Dave, no, it's not the stereo sound!!!

You say you want to hear about some other exciting things from the weekend? Say no more.

  • We've had a stonemason visit our site on Friday and we hope that he will be helping us with the stonework throughout!

  • We received some exciting photos from across many ponds that show the mill and the kilns some time back in the 1960s!!! We also received photos of the mill in about 1950, with the thatched roof still on. We won't share them here because we have not asked for permissions to do so, but they are incredibly valuable to us, not least because they show the real people that lived in the cottage and worked in the mill. We are collecting all the stories we can to better understand the buildings we are now the custodians of. The kiln photo in particular took us by surprise, as we've never seen the kiln as anything other than a ruin.

  • We've been doing some archaeological recording with Dr. Colin Rynne and we will be sharing that in due course. In the meantime, enjoy a picture of Chris with a tiny little trowel and a little moody photo of a pit wheel.
